A Kingsville Olympic athlete has been made awarded a medal of the Order of Australia for her service to sport.

Rosemary Popa is an Olympic gold medallist, having competed in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, where she won a rowing gold medal in the Women’s Coxless Four event.

Popa achieved success throughout her rowing career in the build up to her Olympic achievement, including taking home a silver medal at the World Rowing Championships in 2019 for the Women’s Eight event.

She is also the founder of ‘Rosemary Local’, an online store that she created in September 2020 while she was training full time on the rowing team.

The store supports local creatives by selling their products and helping with the logistics of running a small business.
