A 26-year-old man has been charged following a police pursuit through the western suburbs today.
The charges come following an alleged hit-run collision and car-jacking, which involved a stolen car and a truck, on Grieve Parade in Altona just before 10.45am. The driver of the car fled the scene and stole a second car from a driveway on Brook Drive.
Detective Senior Constable Drew Corry from Werribee Crime Investigation Unit said the man led police on a pursuit along the Princes Freeway, reaching speeds up to 180 km/h and travelling on the wrong side of the road outside Werribee Police Station.
Police apprehended the driver at Heaths Road in Hoppers Crossing this afternoon.
He has been charged with conduct endangering life, robbery, speed and manner dangerous, dangerous driving while pursued police, and theft of motor vehicle. He is due to appear in an out of sessions hearing later today.
