Maribyrnong council are warning residents to be careful of scam callers pretending to represent the council.
In a Facebook post, the council said the scammers are advising people that they’re undertaking a survey about the population of Victoria, with the callers then going on to ask for personal information.
Council said people should not disclose this information, and advised residents that they do not generally undertake phone surveys, with the exception of the Annual Community Satisfaction Survey (not scheduled until towards the end of 2022).
The incident has been reported to Victoria Police.
