Park to pop up on Seddon street

A Seddon street will be closed from Monday to make way for a trial pop-up park.

Construction work on the Austin Street pop-up park is scheduled to take place from 19 January to 13 February as workers install timber decking, lawn, garden beds, concrete safety bollards, and furniture for the 18 month trial which was a priority of the Seddon Neighbourhood Plan and endorsed by Maribyrnong council last year.

Located near the corner of Austin and Victoria streets, the pop-up park will be closed to traffic during the trail, but will provide access for walkers and cyclists and shaded seating for visitors and members of the local community.

The loading zone along Austin Street outside 97 Victoria Street will be closed during the trial and construction, while existing disabled parking will be moved to 78 Austin Street.

Waste collection won’t be affected.

The $150,000 pop-up park will be subject to public feedback, both during and after the trial, to determine if it should be made permanent.
