The team behind Maribyrnong-based wholesale heat pack designer and manufacturer The Spoonie Society has celebrated receiving an award in the Australian Achiever Awards for the second year in a row.

The awards named The Spoonie Society as the Victorian state winner in the Specialised Supplies – Commerce Wholesale sub-category, after receiving an overall score of 99.15 per cent across a number of criteria, including time related service, addressing client needs, care and attention, value, attitude, communication and overall perception.

Co-founders Helene Hill and Dominique Ribeiro Da Silva launched the company in October 2020 to support those suffering from endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome and other chronic illnesses.

Ms Hill said the success of the business since its launch has been “crazy”, as they initially started the company in a spare room and have now moved into a warehouse.

“We have got lots of products,” she said.

On top of the heat packs, the business also sells books on chronic illness, a colouring book and other clothing.

Ms Hill said being exclusively online made customer service an essential part of their business.

“We shop online a lot,” she said.

“We understand what customers and what they need.

“We try to be as accommodating as possible.”
