Seabrook man arrested following CBD stabbing

Homicide Squad detectives have arrested a 23-year-old Seabrook man following the fatal stabbing of a man in Melbourne on Sunday, October 30.

With assistance from the Gang Crime Squad and VIPER Taskforce, detectives executed warrants at residential properties in Seabrook and Delahey on Friday, November 4, arresting the Seabrook man and also a 20-year-old Delahey man.

Detectives have alleged the arrests follow on from an incident during which emergency services were called to Bourke Street in the Melbourne CBD at about 5.45am on Sunday, October 30 after receiving reports of a group of people fighting.

Police have alleged two men suffered stab wounds and were conveyed to hospital in a critical condition, after which a 20-year-old Cranbourne man later died and the second man remains in hospital.

Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said the arrests were the result of an “exhaustive” joint investigation.

“Carrying knives will result in tragic outcomes for all parties concerned and the ramifications are severe and life-changing,” he said.

“A young man has senselessly lost his life, and a number of families no face a lifetime of grieving.

“Victoria Police made it a priority to find those responsible for this young man’s death and hold them to account.”
