Share your Footscray future vision

Maribyrnong Council is calling for people to share their vision for the future of Footscray.

Feedback will help guide the development of the Footscray Public Realm Plan, identifying infrastructure needs as well as opportunities as the area grows.

Mayor Michael Clarke said Footscray is rapidly changing, with many new developments in the pipeline including a new hospital and learning precinct under construction.

Recognised by state government as a Key Business Precinct, the area is set to continue to grow as it attracts significant new investment.

Feedback is being sought on connectivity, perceptions around safety, and design and character of streets, open spaces and buildings.

“We look forward to our community and stakeholders sharing their vision for the future, which will help us identify common goals that we can work towards, as we shape our network of public streets, open spaces and connections,” Cr Clarke said.

“We’ll be able to use this feedback to both inform our planning and advocate for a better Footscray and investment in the area.”

The Footscray Public Realm Plan will build on the previous direction captured in the Footscray River Edge Masterplan 2014 and the City Edge Masterplan 2012.
