State announces school camp and excursion fund

The state announced a new round of grants aimed at supporting primary and secondary school students to participate in camps, sport, and excursions.

According to a state media release, the funding is aimed at ensuring all students are able to attend camps and excursions regardless of their background.

Under the program, families with healthcare cards will be able to access $154 for primary school children and $256 for secondary school students.

This year, families who have multiple children at the same school will be able to pool their allocated funding to use on one child or for one specific activity.

This could help in situations where the costs for activities in a certain year level are higher than others.

This year, more than 200,000 students across the state will be eligible to access the funding.

Premier Jacinta Allan said that the funding is aimed at reducing costs for families amidst other financial pressures.

“Families are juggling so much to give their kids the best start, but it’s harder and harder in Australia’s cost of living crisis” Ms Allan said.

Additionally, the state’s $400 School Saving Bonus can also go towards school activities such as camps or excursions – plus school uniforms and textbooks.

According to the state, school uniforms have been the most popular item purchased under this program, followed by school activities and textbooks.
