West Footscray Traders Association ais holding a special christmas market to recognise businesses in the area.
The Chestnut Tree Christmas Market will be held this Saturday, December 18, to assist traders in the area and to celebrate the businesses who took the brave step of starting up during lockdown.
It is a free event and will be held in the IGA carpark on Barkly street from 10am to 4pm.
The market is named after the new Chestnut Tree Bookshop, the latest store to open in Barkly street during restrictions in September.
Owner Reem Sweid will be giving out free coffee throughout the day from their coffee cart.
There will also be a number of craft market stalls perfect for last minute Christmas gifts, food trucks, free face painting, a free jumping castle for kids and a free Christmas ornaments workshop thanks to The Hand Makers Factory, another new business.
Local brewery Hop nation will be serving cold beers and having a wine tasting session on the day.
The market is supported by Maribyong council, with the mayor and local MP’s coming out to support the event.
West Footscray Traders Association president Pradeep Tiwari said: “It will be a great day out for people of all ages! [I’m] looking forward to seeing everyone at our first Christmas Market.”
