Yarraville Club Cricket Club will postpone its 50th anniversary celebration due to COVID concerns.
The club was set to hold the celebration this month, but has been forced to postpone the event amid health and safety concerns due to the level of COVID currently in the community.
The announcement was made on the club’s Facebook page on Tuesday, which said the decision was made after consultation with the committee and life members.
“With the level of COVID-19 cases in the community, the risk to our members and their families, along with our playing group, to hold a large indoor gathering at the moment is just too great.”
“As a committee, we are equal parts frustrated and disappointed in having to make this decision at such late notice, however it is the most logical one to be made at the moment.
“We are working closely with the Yarraville Club on locking in another date, most likely in early October 2022. Once this has been confirmed, we will pass along further details.”
Tickets that have already been purchased will be automatically transferred to the new date, the post said.
