Western Jets star Montana Ham was taken at pick one in the AFLW draft last week. Ham, who is from Hillside, was taken by the Sydney Swans, with their first ever draft pick. Ham said following being drafted, she was excited by the challenge of moving to Sydney and progressing her footballing career. “It’s a big challenge for me moving up to a new city, but it’s something I’m really looking forward to,” she said. “They approached me like every other club and I really liked what they had to say. Yarraville Seddon got its second win of the Western Region Football League division 1 season on Saturday. Facing Sunshine, which also had one win heading into the game, the Eagles dominated the first half before winning, 17.16 (118)-5.7 (37). The Eagles now sit in eighth. Meanwhile Altona beat Spotswood, 16.8 (104)-8.4 (52), while Deer Park, Caroline Springs and Hoppers Crossing also got wins.

VFL

Williamstown returned to the winners list in the Victorian Football League, with a strong performance against the Northern Bullants. The Seagulls jumped out of the blocks and were in control throughout in the 13.9 (87)-9.8 (62) win. Noah Gown kicked three goals, while Teia Miles had 29 possessions in the win. The win was the Seagulls second of the year, moves them off the bottom of the ladder.

NPL

Altona Magic found the going tough against the Port Melbourne Sharks in the National Premier League on Saturday night. An own goal got the Sharks on the board and they were quickly out to a 3-0 lead. The margin become 4-0 in the 66th minute, before a late goal from Lars Anton Kanninder, in his first game for the Magic, reduced the margin, but it wasn’t enough. The Magic sit in 10th spot.
