Men’s State League 2 North-West side Altona Phoenix held onto for the first 15 minutes of its Australia Cup fifth round game before NPL side Heidelberg United began its five goal pile on to win 5-0 at Paisley Park.
The Phoenix had come into the game off the back of a 3-2 defeat to Epping City on Saturday in their home and away season.
In a short turnaround playing on Tuesday, the Phoenix weren’t able to progress through to the next round against United, who came into the game with a strong 3-1 win to Hume City in the NPL.
The Phoenix have had a solid start to their home and away season with two wins, a draw and two losses, sitting in sixth position on the ladder.
The Phoenix will take on a fourth placed Hopper Crossing this Saturday at home for its round six clash in the Men’s State League 2 North-West competition.
