Wyndham council has won a gong at the National Awards for Excellence in Local Government. On June 20, the Minster for Local Government and Territories Fiona Nash announced Wyndham council had won the Innovation to Create More Liveable Australian Cities category.

Revealing search

Westgate Highway Patrol officers stopped a vehicle on Railway Avenue in Werribee about 2am on June 23. The officers allegedly found an imitation firearm and several prohibited and controlled weapons inside the vehicle. A 39-year-old Yarraville man was charged with possessing prohibited and controlled weapons, breaching bail and drug driving.

End of the road

Wyndham police checked 68 vehicles and processed 23 offenders while conducting an operation targeting drink driving on June 16 and 17. A 26-year-old man, who was detected allegedly driving at 130km/h in a 60km zone along Morris Road, Hoppers Crossing had his car impounded. He was charged with speeding. A 35-year-old driver was also charged with possessing drugs, possession of a controlled weapon and traffic offences.
