Laverton neighbours shocked by trashed house

CRIMINAL charges could be laid against a tenant after a Laverton house was trashed at the weekend.

Laverton’s Sergeant Stephen Bosnar said the owner of the Bladin Street house made a complaint to police after finding a couch on the roof and a mountain of debris and furniture on the lawn and hanging from trees.

“I have no idea how they got the couch on the roof,” he said.

Sergeant Bosnar said the property was already vacant as a result of a VCAT hearing.

A Hobsons Bay council spokeswoman said the council ‘‘will take advice from police” about the damaged property.

“This is a matter between the owner and the tenant. Once the property has been assessed for insurance purposes, the owner may contact the council to discuss hard waste removal.”
