Songs of seduction and revolution will be a highlight of the seventh Newport Folk Festival, to be held on the first weekend in July.
Alyson Murray and Jess Bailey will be among 30 performers in Fem Vox, celebrating the female voice – expect to hear music ranging from Nina Simone tunes to all-girl groups and opera.
Hosted by the Newport Fiddle and Folk Club, the festival will run from July 4-6.
It will also feature a classical concert and spoken word, and will incorporate the second Newport Youth Film Festival, the Substation artists’ market and a farmers’ market.
