Cops on hunt after abduction bid
Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a woman in Footscray last month. The woman was walking along French Street about 1.30pm on May 7 when a man approached her in his car. The man allegedly asked the woman for directions, pretended he couldn’t hear and lured her closer to the passenger window before grabbing her. The woman broke away and last saw the man driving into Paisley Street. He is described as African in appearance, aged in his late 30s to early 40s, tall, with a thin build and thinning hair. He was driving an old, dented, red hatchback with a light brown interior. Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Truck forum rescheduled
The ‘Trucks and the Inner West’ forum scheduled for May 29, but postponed, will now be held from 6pm on Wednesday, June 25, at Maribyrnong Town Hall on the corner of Hyde and Napier streets.
Putting down roots by the bay
Two community planting days are planned for Hobsons Bay on Sunday, June 15. Friends of Greenwich Bay’s planting will be from 10am-noon, with planters meeting at the gate of the former Newport SEC power station, Strand, Williamstown. Friends of Altona Coastal Park and Hobsons Bay council’s planting will be from 1.30-3.30pm, meeting at the gate next to the Pines Scout Camp at Altona Coastal Park, on Altona Road.
