Bank offers community interest Lead headline goes in here 48pt

It’s all about providing a quality service to the community at the Seddon Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank.

Customers can give back to the community simply by conducting their everyday banking with the branch.

In turn, the branch supports organisations such as local festivals, sporting clubs, charities, kindergartens, schools and bands.

Seddon Community Bank Branch is owned by the local community and returns dividends to its shareholders, with about 80 per cent of the profits filtered back into the community through significant grants and sponsorship. Since the branch opened five years ago, $250,000 in grants and sponsorship has been distributed.

Staff also offer their collective expertise to assist a similar range of enterprises.

Recent sponsorship funding contributes to two car leases for three years to support the Royal District Nursing Service.

Other services offered by the branch include free hire of two marquees and a branch noticeboard and Facebook page to promote special community functions and events.

Customers have access to a wide range of financial products, including personal and business banking facilities, building and contents insurance, travel insurance, personal insurance and financial planning advice.

Branch manager Graham Evans has been with the branch for four years and is always keen for feedback from the local community.

“Banking with Community Bank Branch

® is investing in the people around the area and the services provided to enable them to grow,” Graham says. “Eight local residents with a variety of business expertise are members on the committee, who act on a voluntary basis to ensure good stewardship of the organisation,” he says.

Graham encourages the community to come in for a chat with him about sponsorship and about any grant ideas that can support the locals in a positive way.
