Cycling: Dom Dudkiewicz wins Footscray Form700 Super Series

Dom Dudkiewicz has continued his domination of the Footscray Cycling Club’s summer season by winning the 2015 Form700 Super Series A-grade title.

Dudkiewicz came a close second in the final race, but his consistency across the series was rewarded with the top gong.

“This Form700 series is great,” he said. “I don’t know of too many clubs that offer this sort of prizemoney.

“It’s held on a great circuit [at Drake Boulevard in Altona] and I really don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to race here.

“It’s the cleanest, safest and fastest track around.”

Dudkiewicz missed out on the clean sweep after veteran Geordie Probert caused an upset by winning the final race on Saturday.

Probert hit the straight first and held off the bunch to take the victory.

“It was not your average race,” Dudkiewicz said. “In the last few laps, the guys who were going for third place in the series were pushing and there was still a chance that I could lose the series if Matty Heath won and I didn’t place … there was a bit of cat and mouse.

“Then there were just the guys who had nothing to lose who just went off the front … it was a challenging scenario.”

His second placing gave Dudkiewicz all the points he needed to claim the overall series victory.
