The West Footscray community made the most of the sun last Friday, September 30, with the West Footscray Neighbourhood House [WFNH] hosting the last of its Project Reconnect events.
WFNH community programs co-ordinator Tania Jorquera said about 60 people of all ages came along to the event.
“It was such a stunning day too to be in the park,” she said.
“On the day, we had an art workshop with local artists Amanda Neville, and zine making workshop with 100 Story Building,” she said.
“In the local pop up park, the community enjoyed a sausage sizzle, a toy library, a hip hop workshop run by L2R and a youth performer thanks to a collaboration with Maribyrnong Youth Services.”
Ms Jorquera said the event was the last of the organisation’s Project Reconnect program, which was funded through the Maribyrnong City Council Community Grants program and focused on linking up with the community following the COVID-19 lockdowns.
“It’s sort of a way of connecting with us as well as a service,” she said.
“We got quite a bit of feedback that it was great to have something affordable.”
